Highlights include: “You ought to be ashamed of yourself for being such a humbug,” said the Tin Man. “I will be very unhappy if I do not have a heart.” “You don’t need a heart,’” said Oz. “You just need to build up a social-media presence about your lack of a heart. You’ve got a terrific image: unlucky in love, powerful with an ax, a man made completely out of tin. Now run with it. Are you tweeting at least twice a day?” Humor aside, the world is thinking branding and socializing business. It’s apparently the only way to get somewhere over the rainbow…

Site SPOTTED. Oakstreet Bootmakers, The son of a cobbler, Oak Street Bootmakers founder and designer George Vlagos apprenticed at his father’s shop where he learned the craft of shoemaking from an early age. Today, George seeks to preserve the heritage of fine shoemaking through thoughtfully designed and attentively crafted shoes. Their web presence reflects both their vintage orientation, high level of craftmanship, and a no-nonsense minimalist approach to design. Simple clean product shots, concise descriptions and navigation queues easily guide the visitor around this skillfully imagined site. Kudos for a great site and another solid example of the new American manufacturing phenomenon. Might be time to reboot…
